Darley and Coolmore progenies won all 5 races

On the afternoon of the 2nd of April, the third Chengdu Dubai International Cup (CDIC) was run at Jinma Lake Racecourse, Chengdu City, China.

The CDIC is hosted by the People's Government of Chengdu City and Emirates Racing Authority, co-sponsored by Meydan Group, Sports Bureau of Chengdu City, the People's Government of Wenjiang District and China Guangsha.

This is the third time that Chengdu City hosts Chengdu Dubai International Cup with Emirates Racing Authority.


From May, 2012, Sports Bureau of Chengdu City, the People's Government of Wenjiang District, China Guangsha and Meydan Group worked together to introduce CDIC into China and the first CDIC was run on the 6th of April, 2014. Last year witnessed the second CDIC with jockeys from seven countries, 50-odd horses and 3.75 million RMB of Total Prize Fund (five races).

48 thoroughbreds from Ireland, Great Britain, USA and South Africa competed in this year’s five races, and the total prize fund is 3.75 million RMB. There are 23 horses from Ireland, 19 from GB, 5 from USA and 1 from South Africa.

 

These horses were quarantined in Dubai on the 10th of March, departed from Dubai to Chengdu on the 25th of March and would leave China on the 4th of April.

When the dust is settled, Irish horses won three races and British won the other two:

Trainers

Musabah Al Muhairi and Ismail Mohammed each won two races as Musabah Al Muhairi has won another 4 races in the first and second CDIC (two for each year), which makes him the most successful trainer in CDIC’s history.
